The World Through My Eyes

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

Infested people?  What makes me the culprit, the kicking stick?  I do nobody harm, all I ever tried to do was right, conform to the way society says you should be.  Isn’t that the risk we all take, the route we all drive daily?

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

Remnants, a forgotten shadow cast out from the fold, from societies herd like a leper.
People are frightened of what they don’t understand, 'knowledge is courage!' Was that said by somebody famous? I' ve gained knowledge but am still afraid. Afraid that time has stood still. That the unity and the brotherhood of mankind is a lie.

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

A tired mind filled with atrocities and lies, prejudice and hate.  Not of my own making but of others handed to me come rain or shine.  "He who has not sinned. Let them cast the first stone." Now, we all know who said that.  My mind is fresh but my body frail and weak, it has been too long, too much time has past which has set me in my ways.

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

You’d see there is no hope, not when brother can kill brother for the time of day or the shoes on their feet.  You’d see a genocide so large and so fierce that even the rebirth of time could never set it free.

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

You’d see a neighbourhood of cardboard, decorated with broken bottles, broken chairs and the broken lives of broken people.   You’d see the dreams of a man who’s realised that those dreams are so far away, that even daydreaming is impossible.  Dreams are no longer afforded to me yet for others are across the street or just around the corner.

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

You’d see my friend Jack.  Jack only comes around on a good day, usually at christmas or around  birthdays.  He makes an appearance when people are friendly, when they shower me with gifts of trust and kindness and...pity.  When he comes around, I’m the happiest man in the world and I can forget all the hate surrounding me, until the next time he comes. My friend Jack, Daniels!

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

You’d see a meal fit for an urban king, usually a take-away, usually cold.  You’d see an art form of Oliver twist, the artful dodger,  Fagan and of scrooge.  You’d see a look of disgust from some and a look of indifference from others.  I once heard it said, that in the wild, if a monkey fell from a tree while travelling, it would not be allowed back into the pack.  A cruel end for one mistake don’t you think? But nevertheless true.  You become the outcast, forced into a life of destitution.  You get to join the ever-increasing membership of the outsider.

If you could see the world through my eyes what would you see?

You’d see that you don’t want to see the world through my eyes, just in case you see you!
